If you have needed lots of dental work in the past or you think you may need a fair amount of dental work in the future you may be better off opting for dental insurance. A discount dental plan can be the perfect option for people who don’t have a whole lot of oral health issues but don’t want to completely go without some kind of dental health insurance plan.

Dental insurance is typically offered by an insurance company. The consumer can pay monthly premiums to enjoy the benefits of reduced rates, provider networks, and affordable copay. Most dental insurance plans also require an annual deductible and have an annual coverage limit in some instances. In return, your insurance company pays for your cleanings, x-rays, emergency services, root canals and other oral health services you may need. Whether you go to the dentist once a year or once a week, your monthly premium payments will be the same.

A dental discount plan is not an insurance plan. You get a discount card to enjoy discounts on various treatments and services. Using the discount card, you may get a 30% discount at your cleaning, or a fixed charge instead of a percentage discount, you might get special rates – like $100 for a dental checkup, instead of $200. That way, you will know exactly what your dental charges are going to be before you ever make an appointment! In addition, unlike traditional insurance plans, some dental discount plans also include coverage and discounts for cosmetic dental services, such as orthodontic services. However, a dental discount plan offers members low monthly fees, coverage even if they have a pre-existing condition, no waiting periods and of course, valuable savings.

As the nation’s leading provider of dental insurance, Delta enjoys two different networks: Delta Dental PPO and Delta Dental Premier. Plans and rates vary by state.

Delta Dental Premier is a fee-for-service plan that offers the largest network of dentists. Dentists under this plan have agreed to contracted fees with Delta Dental so you pay no more than your copay and deductible for covered services.

Delta Dental PPO is a preferred-provider option program. With Delta Dental PPO you have access to a network of dentists who accept reduced fees for covered services, giving you the lowest out-of-pocket costs. Delta Dental PPO is our second-largest dentist network.

The Renaissance PPO network combines leading national and regional PPO networks to offer maximum choice and value.

Renaissance Dental Products Feature:

Great coverage—Covered services include preventive care like routine exams and cleanings, plus dental procedures such as crowns and implants.

Hassle-free benefits—Dental offices participating in our nationwide PPO network will complete and file claims for you, so you don’t have to deal with paperwork or wait for reimbursement.

Exceptional customer service—Our Indiana-based customer support team answered more than 57,000 phone calls last year and answered 99% of calls on the first contact.

Multiflex Dental Insurance from Nationwide offers affordable dental coverage to individuals of all ages. Our Classic and Select Plus plans have maximum calendar year benefits of $1,500 or $2,000 and include:

  • Coverage for you and qualified family members
  • Coverage for certain preventative, basic and major services
  • Multiple premium payment options
  • Guaranteed acceptance
  • Easy online enrollment

If you are looking for diagnostic and preventive services only, our Advantage Plus Plan pays 80% toward cleanings and oral exams(up to $300 per calendar year).

Careington has been a trailblazer in the field of discount health care since 1979. Discount plans provide you with discounted prices on a wide range of health care services and products; you will pay for services at the discounted price at the time services are received.

Vision

The vision plan is mainly for the benefits of matching glasses, covering optometry, lenses, frames, and contact lenses (need to pay a small copay). The vision plan does not cover medical treatment of eye disease or injury, vision therapy, etc. The monthly premium (ranges from $6 to $20) plus the $35 non-refundable enrollment fee is your first-month premium. The higher the price, the more favorable the plan is.
When you need to use the vision plan, you just need to look up in-network provider according to the tips, take your membership list (ID card), and show the staff that you’re a member of VSP
